The Heritage Jam website project

The Heritage Jam is an interdisciplinary digital platform and collaborative initiative dedicated to experimental storytelling, game-making, and creative approaches to heritage interpretation. Developed by Despoina Sampatakou, the website functions as both a public-facing archive and an active creative hub documenting workshops, game jams, participant projects, and collaborative experimentation across digital media.

Alongside the design and development of the platform, Despoina organised the 2022 Heritage Jam workshop, a three-day intensive programme focused on interactive storytelling and Twine-based narrative design. Hosted at the Digital Archaeology and Heritage Lab at the University of York, the workshop brought together participants from academic, creative, and professional backgrounds to explore non-linear storytelling, game mechanics, and critical approaches to digital heritage through hands-on collaborative practice.

The project reflects a broader interest in participatory digital culture, interdisciplinary pedagogy, and accessible creative technologies, positioning game jams and interactive storytelling as spaces for experimentation, critical reflection, and public engagement.
